Publicada la versió 2.3.3 de l'SNORT. És bàsicament una versió de manteniment amb ben pocs canvis:

[IT Conversations] Beyond Fear, entrevista a Bruce Schneier. Algunes frases destacades:
- We're seeing so much nonsense after 9/11, and so many people are saying things about security, about terrorism that just makes no sense.
- The system didn't fail in the way the designers expected.
- When the U.S. Government says that security against terrorism is worth curtailing individual civil liberties, it's because the cost of that decision is not borne by those making it.
- ...people make bad security trade-offs when they're scared.

[Slashdot] One-Third Of Companies Monitoring Email. Aproximadament una de cada tres empreses nord-americanes utilitza eines per monitoritzar el contingut dels missatges que envien els seus empleats
While studies have shown that spying on workers tends to make them less productive, that hasn't stopped approximately 1/3 of all U.S. companies from employing email monitoring tools. 43% of those companies employ staff to check outgoing emails. (...) Not only are you upsetting workers and decreasing productivity, the benefits are pretty hard to spot. The number of "problem" emails tends to be incredibly low. If someone really wants to send out inappropriate emails, they're going to figure out some other way to do so, such as via a free webmail account somewhere. Yet, the companies are buying up expensive tools and hiring staff to watch just in case they catch the one or two problematic emails that go over the corporate network".
